- 1 deep dish pie crust
- 1 quart fresh strawberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- few drops red food coloring
- whipped cream

- Preheat ove to 400F. Blind-bake pie shell. Cool. Chop one cup of
- strawberries. Combine sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Stir in
- water gradually until smooth. Add chopped strawberries. Cook, over
- medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Remove from
- heat, stir in food coloring. Cool.

- Pour 3/4 of the syrup mixture into prepared pie crust. Arrange remaining
- strawberries in crust, reserving 3 for garnish. Pour remaining syrup
- over strawberries. Chill until firm. Serve with whipped cream and
- slice of reserved strawberry.
